BIM files — IFC, Revit, STEP — come in with their elements intact: every
wall, room, floor and opening arrives as a real object you can select and
measure. Drawings — DXF, PDF sets, plan sheets — are traced to measured
walls and openings first, and checked before the twin is stood up.
Yes. Finishes go onto real geometry, so a floor finish lands on that
room’s slab rather than on a picture of it, and you can place furniture
and equipment in the model. Geometry edits are versioned, so you can
roll back to any earlier state of the building.
It answers questions about the twin in front of you — what is in a room,
how much wall area you are about to finish, which assets sit where — and
helps you turn that into a scope of work and a multi-year capital plan,
where every rate carries the measure it was applied to.
You export IFC. That is the one export format, and Revit opens it through
its own IFC import — a one-way handoff, not a live link or a round-trip
sync. The finishes you applied travel with the file as materials and
properties on each element.
Yes. The twin belongs to your organisation rather than to a project, so it
stays with the building through refits, operators and owners — and you can
export an IFC copy to keep outside Scope3D whenever you want one.
