About this example

This is a worked example rather than a customer deployment: a folder of PDF drawings taken through Scope3D's tracing path into measured geometry. It shows what the drawings an owner already holds can become without commissioning a survey — and what comes out is an IFC they keep.

The Challenge: No model,
and no budget to survey

The problem this example is built around: the building exists and the drawings exist, but nothing connects them — and commissioning a survey to produce a model costs more than the renovation the model was meant to plan.

A folder of PDFs becomes a building you can measure, without anyone commissioning a survey to get there.

Worked example On a demo drawing set — not a customer deployment

From flat drawings to real geometry

Walls, openings and levels are traced against the drawing set with the scale calibrated to a known dimension, so the result is measurable rather than illustrative. Roofs are generated with real pitches, ridges and valleys instead of a flat cap.

What comes out is an IFC the owner keeps — not a viewer, not a rendering. The drawings stopped being an archive and became the building.

  • Calibrated scale:
The trace is set against a known dimension, so the result is measurable.

  • Real roofs:
Pitches, ridges and valleys, not a flat cap dropped over the plan.

  • An IFC you keep:
The output is a model the owner holds, not a viewer session.
